LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Rome
Area Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
associations which serve to support small businesses in their community,
and in doing so, contribute to the economic vitality of their community
and the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 100th Anniversary of the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce; the
celebration will kick off with a Centennial Reception on Thursday, March
22, 2012, at the Rome Historical Society; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1912, the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce has
serviced its community with great pride and commitment for over 80
years; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce has
been a driving force in promoting job growth and strengthening the Rome
area economy; and
WHEREAS, For over a century, the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce has
served the business community, providing opportunities for members to
reach more customers while advocating for programs and legislation that
reduce their costs of doing business; and
WHEREAS, Throughout its spanning years, devoted men and women have
partnered with numerous businesses to provide for a more robust business
climate in Rome while establishing many sponsored events for fun-filled
community involvement; and
WHEREAS, Their dedication, hard work and membership support allow the
chamber to be in the forefront, providing energetic and effective lead-
ership to help other members of the chamber meet today's challenges head
on through advocacy, workforce development, cost-saving marketing oppor-
tunities, and member benefits; and
WHEREAS, Major activities in 2012 include, the 37th annual Rome Home
Show, the 29th annual Honor America Days Celebration, and the 11th annu-
al Shop Rome First Retail Promotion; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce, and recognizes its contrib-
utions to the local and State economies, fully confident that it will
continue its outstanding efforts in support of small businesses; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce.
