LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Marcia Trask upon the occasion of being
selected as Rensselaer County's 2013 Senior Citizen of the Year
WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Marcia Trask
upon the occasion of being selected as Rensselaer County's 2013 Senior
Citizen of the Year, in recognition of her invaluable contributions to
the community through her outstanding, and much appreciated, volunteer
work; and
WHEREAS, As Rensselaer County's 2013 Senior Citizen of the Year,
Marcia Trask will participate in the Annual New York State Senior Citi-
zens Day Luncheon, hosted by the State Office for the Aging (SOFA), at
the Hart Theatre Lounge in the Egg, Albany, New York, on Tuesday, May 7,
2013; and
WHEREAS, The theme for this year's event, Unleash the Power of Age,
recognizes the potential energies of older individuals which can be
unleashed through civic engagement to address pressing social and commu-
nity needs; and
WHEREAS, Marcia Trask, a resident of Petersburg, New York, was born in
Rochester, New York, and raised in East Greenbush; at the age of 73, she
has been an avid volunteer for more than 20 years, and was a teacher at
Berlin Central Schools for 33 years; and
WHEREAS, Marcia Trask has been a support group leader for the New York
State Brain Injury Association for 20 years, and was one of the first 10
original volunteers with the Petersburg Rescue Squad, where she served
for eight years; and
WHEREAS, Active in the Ladies Oriental Shriners of North America and
other various activities at the Everett Wagar Senior Center, Marcia
Trask also serves as the Trip Coordinator and Secretary for the Grafton
Merry Makers Senior Club; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Marcia Trask's distinguished record
merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative Body;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Marcia Trask upon the occasion of being selected as Rensselaer
County's 2013 Senior Citizen of the Year; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Marcia Trask.
