LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Lily Killar upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2013 Albany County Executive's Volunteer
Award, on April 23, 2013

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Lily Killar has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Lily Killar
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2013 Albany
County Executive's Volunteer Award; this esteemed honor was presented at
a special ceremony by Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy on Tues-
day, April 23, 2013, at the Albany County Office Building; and
WHEREAS, Lily Killar has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to many charitable endeavors and has given of herself unstint-
ingly; and
WHEREAS, A 15-year-old 10th grader from Slingerlands, Lily Killar is
the youngest volunteer award honoree; and
WHEREAS, Lily Killar volunteers for the "Adopt a Child at Christmas"
Program; for the last five years, she has helped hundreds of families by
fundraising and collecting gifts for people needing assistance in her
county; and
WHEREAS, Impressive in her dedication, Lily Killar has coordinated
numerous fundraisers and, over the course of her productive volunteer
career, has collected more than 1,300 gifts; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Lily Killar has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lily Killar upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2013 Albany County Executive's Volunteer Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lily Killar.
