LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Frederick L. Gray upon the occa-
sion of graduating from Watertown High School at the age of 97
WHEREAS, Within every community there exist certain individuals who,
through their hard work, dedication and service play an instrumental
role in enriching the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, One such individual is Frederick L. Gray, a Watertown native
who received his diploma from Watertown High School on Monday, June 10,
2013, at the age of 97 years; and
WHEREAS, Frederick L. Gray was a student at Watertown High School; he
would have been a member of the Class of 1934 but instead of graduating,
he put his family ahead of himself and joined the Civilian Conservation
Corps to help support his family during the Great Depression; and
WHEREAS, Frederick L. Gray led a dedicated life of service not only to
his family, but to the entire country as a decorated member of the
United States Army's 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division,
during World War II, earning a Bronze Star and an Oak Leaf Cluster; and
WHEREAS, Upon his discharge from the United States Army, Frederick L.
Gray returned to Watertown to make his home in the North Country, work-
ing in various positions at New York Air Brake until his retirement; and
WHEREAS, Frederick L. Gray is well respected by the students and
administration of the Watertown City School District, as well as his
family, friends and neighbors, for his life accomplishments and his
selfless service to his family, his community and his nation; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Frederick L. Gray upon the occasion of graduating from
Watertown High School at the age of 97; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Frederick L. Gray.
