LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Austin Ferrier upon the occasion
of being named an Academic All-American by the National High School
Coaches Association

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Austin
Ferrier upon the occasion of being named an Academic All-American by the
National High School Coaches Association; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Austin Ferrier has distin-
guished himself as a young man of superlative ability, talent, and matu-
rity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purposeful-
ness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Austin Ferrier, a student at Minisink Valley High School in
Slate Hill, New York, ranked 14th in his class of 399 students and
played football and basketball; and
WHEREAS, He is a member of National Honor Society, and a Safe School
Ambassador; he plans to attend college, and major in Anesthesiology or
Biochemistry; and
WHEREAS, Austin Ferrier wants to be an anesthesiologist and is so
serious about the pursuit that he will not play football in college;
instead, he will concentrate on his studies; and
WHEREAS, Austin Ferrier, who will attend Binghamton University in the
fall was a Varsity 845 first-team defensive back last fall who had eight
interceptions and rushed for 776 yards and seven touchdowns for the
Section 9 Class AA Division II champions; and
WHEREAS, Austin Ferrier was one of 140 students selected as an academ-
ic all-American in 32 different states; he has a 4.2 GPA, and scored
1276 on his SAT; he plans on majoring in biochemistry at Binghamton,
before moving on to medical school; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Austin Ferrier
has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Austin Ferrier may stand with pride in his achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he contin-
ues his education; and
WHEREAS, Austin Ferrier represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of his
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Austin Ferrier upon the occasion of being named an Academic
All-American by the National High School Coaches Association; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Austin Ferrier.
