LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Atina Modesto upon the occasion of her
retirement after 21 years of distinguished service to the Business,
Computer Applications & Entrepreneurship High School

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, The future success of our State and Nation is dependent upon
individuals such as Atina Modesto, who dedicate their lives as educa-
tors, nurturing our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Atina Modes-
to upon the occasion of her retirement after 21 years of distinguished
service to the Business, Computer Applications & Entrepreneurship High
School; and
WHEREAS, Atina Modesto worked for 11 years as a mathematics teacher in
grades 7-12 at the Business, Computer Applications & Entrepreneurship
High School in Queens, New York; she then began her work as Assistant
Principal, a position she held for 10 years; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband of 30 years, and
her two sons, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and in the
great State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and good
works of those civic-minded community members who dedicate their lives
and career to the service of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Atina Modesto has brought an uncompro-
mising standard of excellence to her work and a warm sense of caring and
concern to every young person she educates; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Atina Modesto upon the occasion of her retirement after 21 years
of distinguished service to the Business, Computer Applications & Entre-
preneurship High School; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Atina Modesto.
