LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Marie-Elaine Galenskas upon the occasion
of her retirement after 27 distinguished years as an educator
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in this great
State; and
WHEREAS, The result of many individual efforts, the excellence and the
success of St. Aidan School is due in large part to the efforts of
Marie-Elaine Galenskas; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Marie-Elaine
Galenskas upon the occasion of her retirement after 27 distinguished
years as an educator; and
WHEREAS, Marie-Elaine Galenskas began her teaching career at St. Aidan
School in January of 1987; for ten years, she taught Religion, Language
Arts, Health, Math, and Computer Education to students grades 6-8; in
1995, she became the Technology Director for the school and taught
Computer Education to all of the students in grades 4-8; and
WHEREAS, After completing the course requirements for Administration
in September of 2000, Marie-Elaine Galenskas left St. Aidan School to
become the Assistant Principal of the East Meadow Campus of St. Eliza-
beth Ann Seton Regional School; in 2001, she moved to the Wantagh Campus
as Assistant Principal of the Early Childhood Center; and
WHEREAS, Marie-Elaine Galenskas returned to St. Aidan School as
Assistant Principal in September of 2008; after 27 years in Catholic
Education, she will be retiring as of June 30, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Marie-Elaine Galenskas has continually demonstrated an
impressive dedication, an unparalleled devotion and an unremitting
enthusiasm for the quality of the educational programs and opportunities
offered at St. Aidan School for the benefit of its faculty and students,
as well as for the entire community; and
WHEREAS, In completing her service as a teacher, Marie-Elaine Galens-
kas leaves behind more than mere bricks and mortar; she leaves behind a
legacy to the residents of the St. Aidan community and to future gener-
ations of its students; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Marie-Elaine Galenskas upon the occasion of her retirement, and
for her significant contributions to education in New York State; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Marie-Elaine Galenskas.
