LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Victoria Russo upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Vincent Smith School
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Victoria Russo upon the occasion of her designation for special recogni-
tion by the Vincent Smith School; and
WHEREAS, Vincent Smith School High School senior Victoria Russo is
highly motivated to achieve her personal best both academically and
socially; she is a conscientious, serious, and determined student whose
perseverance and diligence is reflected in her life success, and her
commitment and character to her academic and community endeavors serves
as a role model for young women; and
WHEREAS, Victoria Russo has gained the confidence in herself and her
abilities through structured, individual instruction at the Vincent
Smith School; her daily routines, curriculum studies, and academic
faculty mentors, have made her an advocate for herself as she embarks on
the global community that lies ahead upon graduation; and
WHEREAS, Socially, Victoria Russo is also actively involved and
engaged in the school and local community; she is a senior class partic-
ipant at the North Hempstead Animal Shelter in Port Washington, New
York, where she volunteers her time to assisting the members of the
shelter in giving tours; and
WHEREAS, Victoria Russo participates in all school wide-events such as
the Vincent Smith School Scholarship Fashion Show every spring; she can
also be seen as a tour guide at school open house events, along with her
devoted parents, Richard and Laura Russo; and
WHEREAS, In the local community, Victoria Russo has helped raise
social awareness for the needy by doing the following: volunteering in
the annual food drive to stock a local food pantry; collecting clothes
for a homeless shelter; baking for Breast Cancer Awareness Month; and
collecting animal food and bedding for the local animal shelter for
Animal Awareness Month; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Victoria Russo is a member of HorseAbility, a
center for equine facilitated programs that promotes wide-range horse
related services for children and adults with special needs; her love
for horses has granted her skills to groom and care for the animals as
well as participate in Long Island Horse Shows for riders with disabili-
ties; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
scholar now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments and
in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appreciat-
ing the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers, coaches and
parents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Victoria Russo upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Vincent Smith School; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Victoria Russo.
