LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Dutchess County Agricultural Soci-
ety, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting the Dutchess County Fair on
August 20-25, 2013

WHEREAS, The quality of life of the citizens of the State of New York is
greatly enriched by the immense diversity of the cultural, educational,
recreational and entertainment opportunities and events available
throughout the State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the The Dutchess County Agricultural Society, Inc. upon the occasion of
hosting the Dutchess County Fair on August 20-25, 2013; and
WHEREAS, The Dutchess County Fair is held annually in Rhinebeck, New
York; being one of the town's largest and most popular events, each
year, it takes place at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds; and
WHEREAS, A tradition for over 160 years, the annual Dutchess County
Fair is an event like no other; nationally recognized for its agricul-
ture, food and vendors, the fair draws approximately half a million
people per year, and is the second largest county Fair in New York
State; and
WHEREAS, What makes this particular event special is that each year
gardeners enhance the character of the 162-acre fairgrounds with dozens
of themed gardens; waterfalls and ponds filled with koi and colorful
water lilies add significantly to the Horticulture Center; and
WHEREAS, In addition, one can find relaxation in the quietude of the
new Memorial Garden, along with a walk through the Horticulture Build-
ing; the Dutchess County Fair affords an opportunity to showcase not
only agriculture, but also all that is best about its past; and
WHEREAS, The treasured values of families united and wholesome enter-
tainment for all ages reflected at the Dutchess County Fair help to
foster community spirit and cooperation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the The Dutchess County Agricultural Society, Inc. upon the
occasion of hosting the Dutchess County Fair on August 20-25, 2013; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the The Dutchess County Agricultural Society, Inc.
