LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Hudson Valley Renegades of Wapping-
ers Falls, New York, in recognition of the organization's commitment to
giving back to the community
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of business organ-
izations and individuals that generously contribute to the welfare of
the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Hudson Valley Renegades of Wappingers Falls, New York, in recognition of
the organization's commitment to giving back to the community; and
WHEREAS, The Hudson Valley Renegades are a minor league baseball team
affiliated with the Tampa Bay Rays; the team is a member of the New York
- Penn League, a Class A Short Season league; the team plays at Dutchess
Stadium in Wappingers Falls, New York; and
WHEREAS, As part of its commitment to give back to the community, the
Hudson Valley Renegades have established The Renegades Pitch For Kids
Foundation to enhance the quality of life of young people and their
families throughout the Hudson Valley by supporting community organiza-
tions whose programs make a positive change in youth, their families and
the community; and
WHEREAS, Designed to give back to the community that has given it so
much, the Hudson Valley Renegades Pitch For Kids Foundation is aimed
specifically at the children and families of the Hudson Valley; and
WHEREAS, The Hudson Valley Renegades' Pitch For Kids Foundation grants
and contributions are appropriately funneled through the Community Foun-
dation of Dutchess County; monies raised by Pitch For Kids have provided
grants to local non-profit organizations, including the Child Abuse
Prevention Center, The Phoenix House Poughkeepsie, D.A.R.E., St. Luke's
Cornwall Hospital, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Dutchess & Orange
County; and
WHEREAS, Through the efforts of the entire Hudson Valley Renegades
Pitch For Kids team, and the generous ongoing support of the businesses
and residents of the Hudson Valley, Pitch For Kids will continue to grow
and develop new ways to provide funds and help the children and families
of the Hudson Valley; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Hudson Valley
Renegades of Wappingers Falls, New York, and to its charitable founda-
tion, The Renegades Pitch For Kids; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when business
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Hudson Valley Renegades of Wappingers Falls, New York, in
recognition of the organization's commitment to giving back to the
community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Hudson Valley Renegades.
