LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Richard D. Paul, Sr. upon the occasion
of his retirement after many dedicated years of service as a Village of
Camden Police Officer
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote themselves to
public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing
for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Richard D.
Paul, Sr. upon the occasion of his retirement after many dedicated years
of service as a Village of Camden Police Officer; and
WHEREAS, Retiring on July 10, 2013, after a distinguished law enforce-
ment career, Richard D. Paul, Sr. joined the Village of Camden, New
York, police force as a patrolman on September 9, 1972; and
WHEREAS, Richard D. Paul, Sr. graduated from the New York State Police
Academy on March 30, 1973; and
WHEREAS, Promoted to Sergeant on June 12, 1978, Richard D. Paul, Sr.
was appointed the permanent Police Chief of Camden, New York, on July
25, 1988; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Richard D. Paul, Sr. served in the United States
Army National Guard and received an Honorable Discharge with the rank of
Staff Sergeant in December 1980; and
WHEREAS, A member of the New York State Association of Chiefs of
Police, Richard D. Paul, Sr. is presently an Active Life Member after 20
years of service; he is also a certified firearms instructor; and
WHEREAS, With Richard D. Paul, Sr. throughout his exemplary and nota-
ble career has been his wife of 41 years, Mary, who feels privileged to
be a part of his life and rejoices in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Richard D. Paul, Sr. and his wife, Mary, are the proud
parents of two children, Richard, Jr. and Amanda; they have five beauti-
ful grandchildren, Richard Paul, Andrew Paul, Ryanne Allen, Tyson Allen
and Lynzi Allen; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Richard D. Paul, Sr. upon the occasion of his retirement after
many dedicated years of service as a Village of Camden Police Officer;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Richard D. Paul, Sr.
