LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the 2012-13 Potsdam Ice Storm 16U
Girls Hockey Team upon the occasion of capturing the New York State Tier
II Championship
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to
congratulate the 2012-13 Potsdam Ice Storm 16U Girls Hockey Team upon
the occasion of capturing the New York State Tier II Championship; and
WHEREAS, The 2012-13 Potsdam Ice Storm 16U Girls Hockey Team success-
fully defended its New York State Tier II Championship on their home ice
when they went 5-0 as the host of this year's championship tournament on
the weekend of March 8-10, 2013; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by this team is due in great
part to the efforts of Head Coach Mike Grant, and Assistant Coaches
Shawn Grant and Rick Miller; skilled and inspirational tutors who have
done a superb job in guiding, molding and inspiring the team members
toward their goals; and
WHEREAS, The hallmarks of the 2012-13 Potsdam Ice Storm 16U Girls
Hockey Team from the opening game of the season to capturing the New
York State Tier II Championship, were a sisterhood of athletic ability,
of good sportsmanship, and honor demonstrating that these team players
are second to none; and
WHEREAS, Loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans,
friends and the community at large, the members of the 2012-13 Potsdam
Ice Storm 16U Girls Hockey Team have clearly made a contribution to the
spirit of excellence which is a tradition of the north country region;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when young
people who represent their community with pride and determination while
participating in competitive sports are brought to our attention, they
should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of the great
State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the 2012-13 Potsdam Ice Storm 16U Girls Hockey Team; its
members: Kirstin Barkley, Colleen Besaw, McKaylee Boak, Shannon Casey,
Allie Compeau, Maddi Dillabough, Bailey Dillabough, Natalie Giglio,
Kalie Grant, Kelsey Green, Ellen Greene, Mia Jermano, Ally Miller,
Kelley Paduano, Jennifer Tardelli and Emily Wilmshurst; and Head Coach
Mike Grant, and Assistant Coaches Shawn Grant and Rick Miller; upon the
occasion of capturing the New York State Tier II Championship; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the members, coaches and staff of the 2012-13 Potsdam Ice
Storm 16U Girls Hockey Team.
