LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the 2012-13 St. Lawrence Thunder
14U Girls Hockey Team upon the occasion of capturing the New York State
Tier II Championship
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to
congratulate the 2012-13 St. Lawrence Thunder 14U Girls Hockey Team upon
the occasion of capturing the New York State Tier II Championship; and
WHEREAS, The St. Lawrence Thunder 14U Girls Hockey Team compiled an
outstanding 38-13-4 record during the 2012-13 season; and
WHEREAS, By sweeping their tournament games during the second weekend
in March 2013, the St. Lawrence Thunder 14U Girls Hockey Team captured
the 2013 New York State Tier II Championship; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by this team is due in great
part to the efforts of Head Coach Renee Young and Assistant Coach
William MacCuaig; skilled and inspirational tutors who have done a
superb job in guiding, molding and inspiring the team members toward
their goals; and
WHEREAS, The hallmarks of the 2012-13 St Lawrence Thunder 14U Girls
Hockey Team from the opening game of the season to capturing the New
York State Tier II Championship, were a sisterhood of athletic ability,
of good sportsmanship and honor demonstrating that these team players
are second to none; and
WHEREAS, Loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans,
friends and the community at large, the members of the 2012-13 St.
Lawrence Thunder 14U Girls Hockey Team have clearly made a contribution
to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of the north country
region; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when young
people who represent their community with pride and determination while
participating in competitive sports are brought to our attention, they
should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of the great
State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the 2012-13 St. Lawrence Thunder 14U Girls Hockey Team; its
members: Elizabeth Collins, Madison Cullen, Raechel Davis, Jordan Emer-
son, Kaitlin Irvine, Katie MacCuaig, Mary Kate Mace, Samantha Mace,
Maddie Mailhot, Mikenna Merry, Sidney Molnar, Molly O'Connell, Abby
Paquin, Kerrigan Rondeau, Maya Swamp and Jayden Young; and Head Coach
Renee Young and Assistant Coach William MacCuaig; upon the occasion of
capturing the New York State Tier II Championship; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the members, coaches and staff of the 2012-13 St. Lawrence
Thunder 14U Girls Hockey Team.
