LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dan and Sally Nolan upon the occasion of
their designation as recipients of A Community of Excellence Award by
The College of Saint Rose

WHEREAS, Dan and Sally Nolan have given not only of their time and ener-
gies but also of their competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently have been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dan and Sally
Nolan upon the occasion of their designation as recipients of A Communi-
ty of Excellence Award by The College of Saint Rose; and
WHEREAS, Dan and Sally Nolan have been a team for over 35 years, using
their time and resources to inspire and support organizations in their
community and beyond; among the many organizations they support, Sally
has worked on behalf of Saint Gregory's School and the Academy of the
Holy Names, and she has served as President of the Bentley Parents Exec-
utive Committee and the Marist Parent Council; and
WHEREAS, Dan Nolan is President and CEO of Hugh Johnson Advisors, LLC;
he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation
for the Greater Capital Region and a founding Trustee of the Charitable
Leadership Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Dan Nolan was recently elected to Board Chair of Albany Law
School and to the College Affairs Committee of the Albany Medical Center
Board of Trustees; he also serves on the Endowment Board for the Center
for Disability Services; and
WHEREAS, Together, Dan and Sally Nolan have provided significant
financial support to a wide array of local non-profit organizations,
including the Regional Food Bank, St. Peter's Health Foundation, Albany
Medical Center, the Capital City Rescue Mission, the University at Alba-
ny, and the HopeClub; and
WHEREAS, Dan and Sally Nolan have a strong commitment to Saint Rose;
Dan has served as a member of the College's Board of Trustees for almost
25 years and Board Chair for almost a decade; the Daniel P. Nolan Gymna-
sium reflects the Nolans' generosity and support of the College; and
WHEREAS, Raising their family in the Capital District, the desire to
make this region a better place for all has always been important to Dan
and Sally Nolan, as demonstrated by their active volunteer work, gener-
osity, and commitment to various organizations; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Dan and Sally Nolan have stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Dan and Sally Nolan are the proud parents of Philip and
Victoria; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Dan and Sally Nolan have displayed
throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dan and Sally Nolan upon the occasion of their designation as
recipients of A Community of Excellence Award by The College of Saint
Rose; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dan and Sally Nolan.
