LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Charles G. Taylor, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of his community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Charles G. Taylor, of Batavia, New York died on Tuesday, June
4, 2013, at the age of 88; and
WHEREAS, Born on December 5, 1924, in Buffalo, New York, son of the
late Charles H. and Dorothea K. (Beck) Taylor, Charles G. Taylor gradu-
ated from Amherst Central School in 1943; and
WHEREAS, He served his country as a member of the United States Army
during World War II, and received an Associates degree from General
Motors Institute of Technology; and
WHEREAS, Charles G. Taylor distinguished himself in his profession and
by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and
WHEREAS, Charles G. Taylor was the owner of the former Taylor Type-
writer & Business Equipment in Batavia, New York; and
WHEREAS, Charles G. Taylor's commitment to excellence, and his spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including char-
itable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Since 1959, Charles G. Taylor was a member of the Batavia
First Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trus-
tees, Building Committee, Fireside Class, and American Baptist Churches
of New York State Outdoor Ministries; and
WHEREAS, With a strong belief in his community, Charles G. Taylor was
also a longtime member and a past president of the Kiwanis Club of Bata-
via, YMCA Board of Directors, Camp Committee, and served on the City
Pool Project; furthermore, he was a former Assistant Scout Master with
Troop 7; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his wife, Jean Ann (Bush) Taylor, granddaugh-
ter, Christina Marie Taylor, brother, Jack E. Taylor, and his sister,
Dorothy C. Taylor, Charles G. Taylor is survived by three sons, David C.
Taylor, Jack E. (Deborah) Taylor, and James L. (Tracey) Taylor; three
grandchildren, Stephanie Lee (Adam Miller) Taylor, Nathaniel Taylor and
Sean Taylor; and two sisters-in-law, Bonnie L. Bush and JoAnn Bush; as
well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Charles G. Taylor leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Charles G. Taylor, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Charles G. Taylor.
