LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Blaine K. MacCrabie,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Blaine K. (Mike) MacCrabie of Greene, New York, died on
Saturday, June 29, 2013, at the age of 82; and
WHEREAS, Born in Binghamton, New York, on November 30, 1930, Mike
owned and operated MacCrabie Auto and Farm Parts for many years; and
WHEREAS, Mike MacCrabie distinguished himself in his profession and by
his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and
WHEREAS, This extraordinary man served his community for 36 years from
1975 until 2011 in numerous positions, including Town Justice, Town
Councilman, Town Supervisor and Chenango County Supervisor; he also
served in the Greene Fire Department and Emergency Squad; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Smithville Flats Cemetery Association, Mike
MacCrabie enjoyed mowing and maintaining the small cemeteries in both
Greene and Smithville Flats; and
WHEREAS, Mike MacCrabie's commitment to excellence, and his spirit of
humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including charita-
ble and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Mike MacCrabie was always willing to teach those around him
about life, customer service, business, dedication, how to rebuild an
engine, and commitment to oneself and to community; and
WHEREAS, Many times Mike MacCrabie was seen taking money out of his
pocket to give a parent to help with food for their children and Christ-
mas presents; for many years, he delivered poinsettias to shut-ins, many
not even knowing where they came from or why; and
WHEREAS, Mike MacCrabie did many more acts of compassion and love
towards his neighbor and fellow man, most of which he preferred to
remain anonymous; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his father and mother, Glenn and Dorothy
(Penn) MacCrabie, and one brother, Ron MacCrabie, Mike MacCrabie is
survived by his wife, Valerie (Lindblom); stepson, Kyle Eastwood; broth-
er, Glenn MacCrabie; and nephew and niece, Mark MacCrabie and Karen
MacCrabie-Musti; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Mike MacCrabie leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Blaine K. (Mike) MacCrabie, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Blaine K. MacCrabie.
