LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Ivan "Bud" Moscrip, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Ivan "Bud" Moscrip, of Whitney Point, New York, died on
Sunday, August 25, 2013, at the age of 72; and
WHEREAS, He distinguished himself in his profession and by his sincere
dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of his community;
Ivan "Bud" was employed as a bus driver, and worked at Grumans; and
WHEREAS, Ivan "Bud" Moscrip's commitment to excellence, and his spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including char-
itable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated and truly committed to the community he loved and
was proud to call home, Ivan "Bud" Moscrip served as the Director of
Broome County Real Property, the Judge of the Town of Triangle, and
Supervisor of the Town of Barker; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, this remarkable man was the owner of Moscrip
Realty, and was a member of the Whitney Point Presbyterian Church,
Broome County Magistrates Association, Whitney Point Fire
Department/Emergency Squad, and the Whitney Point Rotary Club; he also
held the esteemed position of President of the New York State Directors
of Real Property; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his parents, Dr. Ransom (Myrtle) Moscrip;
brother, Ransom; and mother and father-in-law, Wallace (Nellie) Barrows,
Ivan "Bud" Moscrip is survived by his wife of 40 years, Betty; his chil-
dren, Jacqueline Moscrip Pickard, Glenn Ivan Moscrip, and Penny (Raymond
Mealick) Moscrip Murrer; seven grandchildren, Valerie, Zachary Pickard,
David, Loren, Nicholas Murrer, Philip, and Sadielyn Combs; one great-
granddaughter, Annamarie Murrer; and his sisters and brothers-in-law,
Williamay (William) Zeiter, Joyce Butts, Paul (Donna) Barrows, and Carl
(Pam) Barrows; as well as many nieces, nephews, and his close friend and
pal, Rascal; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Ivan "Bud" Moscrip leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Ivan "Bud" Moscrip, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Ivan "Bud" Moscrip.
