LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Blanche R. Greene, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of her community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, With deep remorse, this Legislative Body mourns the death of
Blanche Rose Greene, who died on Sunday, September 8, 2013, at the age
of 86; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Greene, New York, Blanche R. Greene graduated
from Clinton Central High School, Class of 1945; and
WHEREAS, Blanche R. Greene distinguished herself by her sincere dedi-
cation and substantial contribution to the welfare of her community; and
WHEREAS, Blanche R. Greene's true calling in life was to be a homemak-
er, and she applied herself to this role with joy and aplomb; she was a
devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as a much beloved friend;
and
WHEREAS, A devout Catholic, Blanche R. Greene was a faithful and
loving spirit whose love of life inspired all who knew her; she was one
of Greene Field Hockey's biggest fans; and
WHEREAS, Blanche R. Greene, along with her husband, the late Robert
Greene, represented the Village of Greene on many occasions over his 36
years as a Village Trustee; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her husband, Blanche R. Greene was predeceased
by her parents, Daniel and Rose Buckley; brothers, Edward and Jack; and
sisters, Evelyn, Eleanor, Elizabeth, Marjorie and Sarah; she is survived
by her children and grandchildren: son and daughter-in-law, Robert and
Lita Greene, and their daughters, Kate and Tess; son, Daniel Greene;
daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and John Pilkington, and their sons,
Jarrett and Jensen; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and John Carlin, and
their sons, John, Dan, Jeff and Matt; as well as her brother-in-law and
sister-in-law, Reverend George and Shirley Greene; sister-in-law,
Susanne Greene; and several nieces and nephews; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Blanche R. Greene leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
she served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Blanche R. Greene, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Blanche R. Greene.
