LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Audrey and Richard Goebel, Sr.
upon the occasion of celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary
WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging happy
occasions and significant milestones in the lives of its esteemed resi-
dents; and
WHEREAS, Audrey and Richard (Dick) Goebel, Sr. celebrated their 50th
Wedding Anniversary during a dinner with their family at the Raindancer
on June 1, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Audrey Teetz and Dick Goebel met at Estee Middle School, in
James Sinon's social studies class; and
WHEREAS, Their friendship continued even after Dick's family moved out
of the school district, while Dick worked for Glove City Abrading Compa-
ny, Inc., which was owned by Audrey's grandfather and managed by her
father; and
WHEREAS, Audrey graduated from Gloversville High School in 1959; she
attended SUNY Albany before graduating from the medical secretarial
program at Albany Business College; and
WHEREAS, Dick graduated from Broadalbin High School in 1959, and then
served honorably in the United States Navy as Electrician's Mate Third
Class aboard the USS Entemedor; he then attended Mohawk Valley Technical
Institute, where he was an All-American goalie; and
WHEREAS, Audrey and Dick were united in marriage by Reverend John
Joslyn at St. James Lutheran Church in Gloversville on June 1, 1963; and
WHEREAS, Shortly after the wedding, Dick and his father began building
a home on Sun Valley Road, where the family still resides today; and
WHEREAS, Audrey and Dick successfully managed and operated Glove City
Abrading Company, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Now retired, they enjoy visiting the YMCA, gardening and
singing in the Grace Lutheran Church choir; and
WHEREAS, Audrey is renowned for her extraordinary quilting ability,
and Dick is an avid deer hunter; and
WHEREAS, They are the proud parents of five sons, Frank II, Richard
Jr., Howard, Charles, and William, and the loving grandparents of six
grandchildren, Brianna, Emma, Jack, Jesse, Derek, and Jordan; and
WHEREAS, Their loving and enduring marriage is an inspiration to their
family and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Audrey and Richard Goebel, Sr. upon the occasion of cele-
brating their 50th Wedding Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Audrey and Richard Goebel, Sr.
