LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Eugene Raponi upon the occasion of his
retirement after 36 distinguished years of public service to the Town of
Forestburgh

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished citizens who demonstrate great courage and diligence
in providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communi-
ties and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Eugene Raponi upon the occasion of his retirement after 36 distinguished
years of public service to the Town of Forestburgh; and
WHEREAS, This momentous occasion was celebrated on Thursday, December
5, 2013 with the presentation of a plaque, words of praise from both
residents and peers, and a certificate of recognition for decades of
service to Forestburgh, New York; and
WHEREAS, Eugene Raponi, affectionately known as Gene, spent six years
of his esteemed career serving on the Forestburgh Planning Board, as
well as four years as an Environmental Chair, a physically demanding job
collecting data on New York City's releases from the Neversink Reservoir
into the Neversink River; and
WHEREAS, Respectfully known for his bravery in standing alone on the
tough issues, Gene Raponi served as a Forestburgh Town Councilman for 26
years; and
WHEREAS, During his retirement, Gene Raponi plans to attend future
Town Board meetings, and will continue his service on the Board of
Directors of Action Towards Independence; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Eugene Raponi upon the occasion of his retirement after 36 distin-
guished years of public service to the Town of Forestburgh; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Eugene Raponi.
