LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating The Bergen Business and Civic
Association upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of the
2013 Special Service Recognition of the Year Award by the Genesee County
Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of business organ-
izations and individuals that generously contribute to the welfare of
the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late The Bergen Business and Civic Association upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the 2013 Special Service Recognition of the
Year Award by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce; this auspicious
occasion will be celebrated at the Chamber's Annual Awards Ceremony, to
be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at the Clarion Hotel; and
WHEREAS, The Bergen Business and Civic Association was organized in
1896 as the Businessman's Club; it was reorganized in 1969 to include
not only women, but civic-minded citizens as well; and
WHEREAS, With members from Bergen, New York and the surrounding areas,
Bergen Business and Civic Association is dedicated to the advancement of
all of Genesee County; and
WHEREAS, The Bergen Business and Civic Association supplies the Bergen
Directory which is published every two years, and allows local busi-
nesses to advertise and promote their services; they also host the Annu-
al Easter Egg Hunt, as well as an Annual Recognition Dinner, honoring
those who have positively affected the Genesee Community; and
WHEREAS, The Bergen Business and Civic Association generously supports
the Byron-Bergen Public Library, Masons Christmas gift baskets, Genesee
County Fair, Genesee County Veteran's Services, and the Byron-Bergen
Central School District; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Bergen Busi-
ness and Civic Association; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions and individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought
to our attention, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate The Bergen Business and Civic Association upon the occasion
of its designation as recipient of the 2013 Special Service Recognition
of the Year Award by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Bergen Business and Civic Association.
