LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Alex's Place of Batavia, New York,
upon the occasion of its designation as the recipient of the 2013
Service Business of the Year Award by the Genesee County Chamber of
Commerce
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of business organ-
izations and individuals that generously contribute to the welfare of
the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Alex's Place of Batavia, New York, upon the occasion of its desig-
nation as the recipient of the 2013 Service Business of the Year Award
by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce; this momentous occasion will
be celebrated at the Chamber's Annual Awards Ceremony on Saturday,
February 22, 2014, at the Clarion Hotel; and
WHEREAS, For 25 years, Alex's Place has been serving delicious char-
grilled favorites along with a wonderful blend of American steakhouse
specialties and Italian classics to satisfied guests, not only from the
Batavia area, but the Buffalo and Rochester communities as well; and
WHEREAS, Originally a small one-room track stop for local racers and
players, Alex's Place offered guests classic comfort foods; as the
restaurant grew in popularity, the building and menu also expanded; now
a 100-seat restaurant with an open kitchen design, guests are welcomed
from all over Western New York; and
WHEREAS, Known for their baby back ribs, Alex's Place won The Roc City
Rib Fest People's Choice Award for Best Ribs in 2010, 2011, and 2012;
these famous ribs are now available nationwide, and are sold in grocery
stores throughout New York State; and
WHEREAS, Matthew Gray, owner of Alex's Place since 2007, has shown a
strong commitment not only to his establishment, but also to the Batavia
community; he enrolled in Leadership Genesee, a program to educate busi-
ness owners, as well as their staff, on the importance of self-growth
and community awareness; and
WHEREAS, Subsequently, through this commitment, Alex's Place has
become a destination that is enjoyed by Genesee County patrons, and
customers from all parts of the country; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Alex's Place of
Batavia, New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions and individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought
to our attention, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Alex's Place of Batavia, New York, upon the occasion of its
designation as the recipient of the 2013 Service Business of the Year
Award by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Matthew Gray, Alex's Place, Batavia, New York.
