LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the Mary
Jackson-Judge Roy Memorial "Tee Off Against Multiple Sclerosis"

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge those
special occasions when a community asset celebrates an important mile-
stone; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Mary Jackson-Judge Roy Memorial
"Tee Off Against Multiple Sclerosis"; and
WHEREAS, In 1989, the Mary Jackson-Judge Roy Memorial Tee Off Against
Multiple Sclerosis was founded by Billy Jackson, who lost his wife Mary
to complications from multiple sclerosis; and
WHEREAS, Judge William Robert Roy, a 27-year devoted supporter of both
the tournament as well as research to the treatment and cure of multiple
sclerosis, passed away in 2010; and
WHEREAS, Both of these individuals suffered with multiple sclerosis
for many years, and each year the tournament is held in their memory to
raise funds to help support the work of Multiple Sclerosis Resources of
Central New York, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Established in September of 1998, Multiple Sclerosis
Resources of Central New York, Inc. is a local agency devoted to provid-
ing services for people living in Central New York afflicted with multi-
ple sclerosis; and
WHEREAS, This vital organization is dedicated to creating awareness
and providing resources to improve the lives of individuals with multi-
ple sclerosis; and
WHEREAS, The agency was developed 14 years ago by concerned individ-
uals from the Central New York community who felt local clients
afflicted with multiple sclerosis needed additional assistance to meet
their needs; and
WHEREAS, The vision of Multiple Sclerosis Resources of Central New
York, Inc. is to make the lives of individuals living with multiple
sclerosis in Central, Northern, Upstate, and the Southern Tier of New
York comfortable and free of barriers and obstacles; and
WHEREAS, Today, the agency provides a wide range of services to its
clients afflicted with multiple sclerosis including referrals, advocacy,
equipment loan, transportation for medical appointments, workshops,
lectures, retreats, and more; and
WHEREAS, Multiple Sclerosis Resources of Central New York, Inc. also
has a Clinical Affiliation Agreement with the Multiple Sclerosis Neurol-
ogy Clinic at SUNY Upstate Medical University; and
WHEREAS, The Board of Directors and staff of Multiple Sclerosis
Resources of Central New York, Inc. are committed to meeting the needs
of local clients suffering with multiple sclerosis and to providing
information to the general public and professional communities; and
WHEREAS, Over the past 14 years, Multiple Sclerosis Resources of
Central New York has received overwhelming support from individuals and
businesses in Central New York; all funds raised by the organization
benefit its local clients; and
WHEREAS, In its 30 years of existence, the Mary Jackson-Judge Roy
Memorial "Tee Off Against Multiple Sclerosis" has raised over one
million dollars to fight multiple sclerosis locally in Central New York;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize and congratulate the Golf Chairs and Committee of the Mary

Jackson-Judge Roy Memorial "Tee Off Against Multiple Sclerosis" upon the
occasion of its 30th Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Billy Jackson and Jim Roy, Golf Chairs, the Mary Jackson-
Judge Roy Memorial "Tee off Against Multiple Sclerosis."
