LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Betty Ann Pristupa upon the occasion of
her designation as the 2013 Nassau County Senior Woman of the Year

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have
devoted themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their
community and the needs of its residents; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concerns, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Betty Ann Pristupa upon the occasion of her designation as the 2013
Nassau County Senior Woman of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Betty Ann Pristupa exemplifies dedication to community
involvement and compassionate care for others; an active volunteer who
serves in multiple capacities, she is an outstanding representative of
Nassau County's many talented and committed older citizens; and
WHEREAS, Betty Ann Pristupa has been a resident of Williston Park, New
York, since 1953; and
WHEREAS, Betty Ann Pristupa has worked at Winthrop-University Hospital
for the past 31 years; devoted to the patients she assists, she has also
been a nighttime volunteer in the hospital's emergency room throughout
her tenure; and
WHEREAS, In addition, for the last seven years, Betty Ann Pristupa has
been a volunteer caregiver for the senior respite program of the Educa-
tion and Assistance Corporation, providing relief and support to family
members who are full-time caregivers to seniors; and
WHEREAS, Betty Ann Pristupa cares about the wellbeing of her entire
community; for the past 17 years she has been a member of the Williston
Park Auxiliary Police; she graduated from the Nassau County Police Acad-
emy in 1996 and performs 12 hours of police work per month, helping
individuals and assisting at village events; she is also a member of
Williston Park Seniors; and
WHEREAS, A woman inspired to help others by virtue of her great faith,
Betty Ann Pristupa is a longtime parishioner of Church of St. Aidan; and
WHEREAS, Married for 38 years to her late husband, Alfonse, with her
throughout have been her children, Allison and Steven, who feel privi-
leged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate blend-
ing of strength, intellect and commitment as that demonstrated by Betty
Ann Pristupa over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, it is appropriate to publicly proclaim and commend those individ-
uals for the edification and emulation of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Betty Ann Pristupa upon the occasion of her designation as the
2013 Nassau County Senior Woman of the Year; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Betty Ann Pristupa.
