LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Herricks
Summer Recreation Program
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 40th Anniversary of Herricks Summer Recreation Program; and
WHEREAS, Herricks Summer Recreation Program is available to children
from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, and offers a large variety
of activities such as dancing, cooking lessons, arts and crafts, musical
theatre, computer skills, as well as athletics and team sports; and
WHEREAS, With a waiting list, and 500 students in attendance, Herricks
Summer Program has never been more popular than it is today; and
WHEREAS, The Director of Herricks Summer Recreation Program for the
past two years, Beth Rosenman credits the longevity and success of the
program to the staff constantly looking for ways to improve; and
WHEREAS, Three courses were added to the program's curriculum includ-
ing Mad Science, Magic, and Sign Language classes, with the intent to be
both educational, as well as entertaining; and
WHEREAS, This milestone presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to recognize and pay tribute to Herricks Summer Recreation Program;
in so effectively carrying out its mission, this vital organization has
demonstrated the values necessary for the youth of the State of New
York, our most precious resource, to grow to be productive members of
the communities of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Herricks Summer Recreation Program;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Director Beth Rosenman, Herricks Summer Recreation Program.
