LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending John Hayes upon the occasion of cele-
brating 50 years in the Theater

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those individuals who have brought entertainment and cultural
enrichment to the citizens of the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
John Hayes upon the occasion of celebrating 50 years in the Theater; and
WHEREAS, John Hayes' luminous career began at 18 years old when he was
cast in the off-Broadway production of "Arsenic and Old Lace", and
subsequently was asked to take over as Director; and
WHEREAS, Currently directing the St. Aidan's Summer Stage production
of "Hello Dolly!", John Hayes is responsible for directing many success-
ful off-Broadway shows before moving to community theater; and
WHEREAS, With a passion for guiding young actors, John Hayes has spent
37 years of his 50 year career as the Director of the Herricks Community
Theater; during this time he has overseen 61 productions; and
WHEREAS, The arts, in whatever form depicted, are central to human
expression; they are truly a universal language and their contribution
to the development of friendship and understanding among all peoples
cannot be underestimated; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend John Hayes upon the occasion of celebrating 50 years in the
Theater; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John Hayes.
