LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Schreiber High School students Emily
Weinstein, Annie Kim, Amy Choi, and Nicole Forman upon the occasion of
their selection for key positions at the 2013 NYSSMA All-State Winter
Conference
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the dedi-
cation and commitment of our young people who distinguish themselves
through excellence in musical competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Schreiber High School students Emily Weinstein, Annie Kim, Amy Choi, and
Nicole Forman upon the occasion of their selection for key positions at
the 2013 NYSSMA All-State Winter Conference; these accomplished musi-
cians rose to the occasion during the event held December 5-8, 2013, in
Rochester, New York; and
WHEREAS, The New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) is one
of the largest musical organizations in the country; in the spring of
2013, thousands of students auditioned at solo and ensemble festivals
throughout New York State for the honor of performing at the All-State
Winter Conference; and
WHEREAS, Emily Weinstein was selected as Alto 1, Women's Chorus; Annie
Kim was named Violinist, String Orchestra; and Amy Choi and Nicole
Forman were each designated Violin, Alternate; and
WHEREAS, These hard working musicians rehearsed over several hours per
day under the tutelage of world-renowned conductors, culminating in a
spectacular concert at the Eastman Theatre in Rochester, New York; and
WHEREAS, Music competition provides an opportunity for students to
exhibit their practical skills to an audience, thereby giving them a
sense of pride in their hard work and efforts; and
WHEREAS, Emily Weinstein, Annie Kim, Amy Choi, and Nicole Forman exem-
plify the best potential which is inherent in our most precious
resource, our youth; they have brought enduring honor to their families,
their school, and their community through their achievements; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, these
artists now stand honorably, with just pride in their accomplishments,
and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appre-
ciating the caring counsel and support provided by their teachers,
mentors, and parents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Schreiber High School students Emily Weinstein, Annie Kim, Amy
Choi, and Nicole Forman upon the occasion of their selection for key
positions at the 2013 NYSSMA All-State Winter Conference; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Emily Weinstein, Annie Kim, Amy Choi, and Nicole Forman.
