LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Adriene Emmo upon the occasion of
receiving the 2013 ATHENA Award from The Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Adriene Emmo upon the occasion of receiving the 2013 ATHENA Award from
The Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce, to be celebrated on Thursday,
September 12, 2013; and
WHEREAS, The ATHENA Award is presented annually to a woman for her
professional excellence, community service, and for actively assisting
women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership
skills; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, this prestigious award provides the community
with an environment where women's accomplishments and contributions are
valued, as well as clearly defined role models for others to emulate;
and
WHEREAS, Adriene Emmo of Seneca Falls, New York, earned a degree in
Business Management from the Rochester Institute of Technology; she
continued her education at Northeastern University where she received
her expedited program Paralegal Certification; and
WHEREAS, In 1990, Adriene Emmo formed her own bankruptcy consulting
firm, Emmo Consulting, and for many years has provided her expertise in
bankruptcy and business reorganization to national and international
firms of renown; and
WHEREAS, A sought after expert in administration of the proceedings
associated with the Chapter 11 filings, Adriene Emmo has become a mentor
and guide to most new professional associates in the firm; although
officially retired, she continues to be called upon to consult on cases
where her specialized knowledge is required; and
WHEREAS, Projecting the same professionalism into her volunteerism,
Adriene Emmo is an active participant in countless organizations, lend-
ing her heart and soul to each and every board and organization she
serves; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Heritage Area Commission for the Village of
Seneca Falls since 2004, Adriene Emmo has led the group for most of
those years as Commission Chair; she has also served as Acting Director
of the Heritage Area Visitor Center, as well as President of the local
chapter of the Friends of the Women's Rights National Historic Park; and
WHEREAS, A long-standing member of the Convention Days Committee,
Adriene Emmo is also the founder of the annual Classic Car Show in Sene-
ca Falls which draws in thousands of spectators each year; she is a
strong contributor to the Seneca Falls Chapter of Kiwanis International,
a founding member of the local chapter of the National Organization of
Women, and an active board member for the Women's Interfaith Institute;
and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, due to her years of tireless dedication to so
many organizations that celebrate the history of Seneca Falls, Adriene
Emmo was named the Official Ambassador of Seneca Falls in 2011; she is
now one of the most learned and reliable resources for information to
both tourists and local residents; and
WHEREAS, A founding member of the Women's Institute of Leadership and
Learning, Adriene Emmo is dedicated not only to serving her community,
but also to the advancement of women; her mission and work encourage

women to learn the challenges faced by women across the globe, and to
become a part of the solution; and
WHEREAS, Adriene Emmo received the New York State Liberty Award in
2009 for her outstanding service to her community, and was honored as
the 2011 Woman of the Year by the Seneca County Women's Coalition; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout has been her loving husband, Daniel
Robert Emmo, who feels privileged to be a part of her life and rejoices
in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Adriene Emmo upon the occasion of receiving the 2013 ATHENA Award
from The Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Adriene Emmo.
