LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Patricia Dillon upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2013 Spirit Award by the Huntington
Foundation for Excellence in Education

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Patricia Dillon has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Patricia
Dillon upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2013
Spirit Award by the Huntington Foundation for Excellence in Education;
this auspicious occasion will be celebrated at the 21st Annual Reach for
the Stars Gala on Friday, February 7, 2014, at the Crest Hollow Country
Club, Woodbury, New York; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1993, The Huntington Foundation for Excellence in
Education (HFEE) is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to enhancing
educational opportunities for all students in the Huntington School
District; and
WHEREAS, Raised in Wantagh, New York, Patricia Dillon attended Sacred
Heart Academy in Hempstead, and was the editor of the school newspaper;
upon graduation she attended St. Bonaventure University where she
studied English, and completed her student-teaching requirements at
Alleghany High School; and
WHEREAS, Awarded a graduate assistantship at C.W. Post College's
Palmer School of Library Science, Patricia Dillon subsequently earned
her master's degree; she later received a second master's degree in
educational technology from Stony Brook University; and
WHEREAS, Patricia Dillon began her longtime and dedicated service to
the students of the Huntington School District in 1990 as the Librarian
at Woodhull Early Childhood Center; in 1994 she moved to Huntington
Elementary School, and transferred to her current position at Huntington
High School in 2010; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Patricia Dillon has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Patricia Dillon upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2013 Spirit Award by the Huntington Foundation for Excellence in
Education; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Patricia Dillon.
