LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending The Townwide Fund of Huntington upon
the occasion of hosting its 2014 Valentine's Eve Red Tie Gala on Febru-
ary 13, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
acknowledge those organizations within our midst that have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
The Townwide Fund of Huntington upon the occasion of hosting its 2014
Valentine's Eve Red Tie Gala; this elegant event will take place on
Thursday, February 13, 2014, at the historic Oheka Castle in Huntington,
New York; and
WHEREAS, At the 2014 Valentine's Eve Red Tie Gala, The Townwide Fund
of Huntington will celebrate romance, and honor the men and women whose
compassionate philanthropy has helped to advance the foundation's
mission, and has helped make a difference in the lives of some of the
most vulnerable members of the Long Island community; and
WHEREAS, The Townwide Fund's esteemed honorees are: the Honorable
Susan A. Berland, Town of Huntington; David Borg Sr., Borg and Borg
Insurance; John Bransfield, Advantage Title; Michael DeLuise of Melville
Chamber of Commerce; Rich Kruse, Douglas Elliman; Don Monti, Renaissance
Downtowns; Steven M. Schanker, Esq., Schanker and Hochberg, P.C.; and
Vita Scaturro, Community National Bank, Huntington Chamber of Commerce
and The Townwide Fund of Huntington; and
WHEREAS, The mission of The Townwide Fund of Huntington is to raise
funds within the community to assist the local charities that make the
community stronger; and
WHEREAS, For more than fifty years, this dedicated organization has
infused local organizations with the support they need to provide vital
health and human services to the residents of the Town of Huntington;
and
WHEREAS, As a non-governmental agency, The Townwide Fund of Huntington
bridges the gap between dwindling governmental support for local chari-
ties and the increasing needs of community residents; and
WHEREAS, The 2014 Valentine's Eve Red Tie Gala is only one of the many
charity events conducted by The Townwide Fund of Huntington to raise
funds in its laudable quest to enhance the wellbeing of the Huntington
community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend The Townwide Fund of Huntington upon the occasion of hosting its
2014 Valentine's Eve Red Tie Gala on February 13, 2014; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Townwide Fund of Huntington and the aforementioned hono-
rees.
