LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Bill Cram upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award by the
Seneca County Chamber of Commerce
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, William "Bill" Cram has given not only of his time and ener-
gies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and conse-
quently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Bill Cram upon
the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2013 Lifetime
Achievement Award by the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce, to be cele-
brated at its Annual Dinner Meeting on Friday, January 24, 2014, at the
Waterloo/Seneca Falls Holiday Inn, Waterloo, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to an individual who
has demonstrated involvement in the community and in the growth of Sene-
ca County; and
WHEREAS, In the early 1950s, Bill Cram was stationed at the Sampson US
Air Force Base in Seneca County, where he met his loving wife, Phyllis,
and after a brief time spent overseas in Germany, the couple returned to
Seneca County where they co-founded Timberline Cash and Carry, as well
as Timberline Products, both of which they later sold to Wickes Lumber;
and
WHEREAS, In 1969, looking towards a new business prospect, Bill Cram
purchased the Hallman Dealership in Seneca Falls; three years later,
continuing his focus with the automotive industry, he purchased and
remodeled the former Tri City Discount Store, and moved his dealership
to that site; and
WHEREAS, With the business thriving, Bill Cram Chevrolet expanded
again in January of 2012 with a brand new state-of-the-art Chevrolet
Dealership; the project included demolition of the dealership's former
space, and construction of a new showroom, sales department, parts
department, drive-through service line, business offices, as well as
parking and site improvements; and
WHEREAS, Bill Cram has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Bill Cram has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Phyllis, and their
daughter, Amy, as well as one grandson, all of whom feel privileged to
be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Bill Cram upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2013 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Seneca County Chamber of
Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to William " Bill" Cram.
