LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Rebecca Schaub and Alexandra Zweiner
upon the occasion of their designation for special recognition by the
College Board's National Hispanic Recognition Program

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Rebecca
Schaub and Alexandra Zweiner upon the occasion of their designation for
special recognition by the College Board's National Hispanic Recognition
Program; and
WHEREAS, Academically, Rebecca Schaub and Alexandra Zweiner have
distinguished themselves as young women of superlative ability, talent,
and maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement,
purposefulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful
years; and
WHEREAS, Rebecca Schaub and Alexandra Zweiner are members of the
senior class at Paul D. Schreiber High School in Port Washington, New
York who have been designated by The College Board as Scholars, the
highest form of recognition; and
WHEREAS, The College Board is a membership association committed to
the principles of excellence and equity whose mission is to connect
students to college success and opportunity; founded in 1900, the asso-
ciation is composed of more than 5,000 schools, colleges, universities,
and other educational organizations; and
WHEREAS, The National Hispanic Recognition Program, established in
1983, is a College Board program that provides national recognition of
the exceptional academic achievements of Hispanic high school seniors,
and identifies them to postsecondary institutions; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, students enter the program by taking the Prelim-
inary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test as high school
juniors, as well as by identifying themselves as Hispanic; and
WHEREAS, Rebecca Schaub and Alexandra Zweiner may stand with pride in
their achievements, experiencing the satisfaction of their labors and
the joy of their accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new
experiences as they continue their education; and
WHEREAS, These exemplary young women represent the potential inherent
in our most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is
pleased to honor these young women, recognizing their achievements and
the promise of their future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Rebecca Schaub and Alexandra Zweiner upon the occasion of their
designation for special recognition by the College Board's National
Hispanic Recognition Program; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rebecca Schaub and Alexandra Zweiner.
