LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Domenick Martello upon the occasion of
his retirement after 12 years of distinguished public service to the
Town of Ossian

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who are devoted to the welfare of their community and its citizen-
ry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Domenick Martello upon the occasion of his retirement after 12 years of
distinguished public service to the Town of Ossian; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Ossian, New York since 1992, Domenick Martello
won the election for Town Supervisor in November of 2001, and has served
in this esteemed position since January of 2002; and
WHEREAS, In his role as Ossian Town Supervisor, Domenick Martello
served as Chief Executive, Chief Financial Officer, and presided as
Chairman at Town Board meetings; in addition, in this capacity, he kept
a complete and accurate record of all money received and spent, and
prepared the town budget; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure, Domenick Martello was dedicated to ensur-
ing reliable and safe travel, and subsequently almost 30 miles of dirt
roads were improved; and
WHEREAS, For the past 12 years, Domenick Martello rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Town of Ossian, earning the
admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Domenick Martello honorably served in the United States Army
between 1961 and 1964, and as a reservist until 1988; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate blend-
ing of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that demon-
strated by Domenick Martello over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication
to others; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of fifty years, Ann,
his two daughters, Mary Beth and Lisa, and a son, Christopher, all of
whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his
achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Domenick Martello upon the occasion of his retirement after 12
years of distinguished public service to the Town of Ossian; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Domenick Martello.
