LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Larry Rogers upon the occasion of his
retirement after 45 years of distinguished public service

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who are devoted to the welfare of their community and its citizen-
ry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Larry Rogers upon the occasion of his retirement after 45 years of
distinguished public service; and
WHEREAS, In May of 1968, Larry Rogers began his illustrious career in
public service with the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Wyoming County,
an organization he served for 31 years; and
WHEREAS, Elected Town Supervisor of Pike, New York in 1999, Larry
Rogers officially retired from the esteemed position after 14 years of
dedicated service, on December 31, 2013; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure, Larry Rogers was instrumental in the
completion of the town's new highway building, as well as the consol-
idation of the town and village of Pike; and
WHEREAS, An avid volunteer, Larry Rogers is a past Chief of the Pike
Volunteer Fire Department, and has served as the Executive Director for
the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Wyoming County, and on the Wyoming
County Fair's Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, For the past 45 years, Larry Rogers rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Town of Pike, earning the
admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate blend-
ing of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that demon-
strated by Larry Rogers over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication to
others; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Wendy, and three
children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Larry Rogers upon the occasion of his retirement after 45 years of
distinguished public service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Larry Rogers.
