LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Antonio M. Cipollari posthumously upon
the occasion of his designation for special recognition by Rensselaer
County at its Honor-A-Veteran Ceremony on February 10, 2014

WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York, who
have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this country's
freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace in peace-
time, deserve a special salute; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Antonio M. Cipollari posthumously upon the occasion of his designation
for special recognition by Rensselaer County at its Honor-A-Veteran
Ceremony to be held Monday, February 10, 2014; and
WHEREAS, The Rensselaer County Honor-A-Veteran Committee was formed to
honor a deceased Rensselaer County veteran who has served his country in
time of conflict; and
WHEREAS, Antonio M. Cipollari was born on March 5, 1931, in Schenecta-
dy, New York, the son of Antonio and Mary Madeline Carusome Cipollari;
he was also the brother of Victor Cipollari and Angeline Stasack Lown;
and
WHEREAS, Antonio M. Cipollari attended Van Rensselaer Junior and
Senior High School until 1948; on January 4, 1949, he enlisted in the
United States Army; and
WHEREAS, Antonio M. Cipollari received numerous awards and medals for
his military service in the combat infantry during the Korean War,
including the Bronze Star, Korean Service Medal with 5 stars, Good
Conduct Medal, and the Army Occupation Medal; and
WHEREAS, Antonio M. Cipollari was honorably discharged on January 3,
1952, and went on to work for 20 years as a Chief Lock Operator for the
New York State Canal; he also owned Ciploy Equipment in Defreestville,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Antonio M. Cipollari was active in several veterans associ-
ations and enjoyed square dancing, fishing, automotive and equipment
repairs, and attending rummage sales; and
WHEREAS, Antonio M. Cipollari was a devoted father and grandfather to
a daughter, Judith, and grandchildren, Carmela, Natalia and Michael; and
WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget the courage
with which these men and women served their country, and must recognize
that no greater debt is owed than that owed to those who gave their
lives for their beloved Nation and to those who continue to be missing
in action; and
WHEREAS, Having exhibited their patriotism both at home and abroad,
these men and women demonstrated their love for their country and merit
forevermore, the highest respect of their State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended and
thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and for
their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Antonio M. Cipollari posthumously upon the occasion of his desig-
nation for special recognition by Rensselaer County at its Honor-A-Vet-
eran Ceremony on February 10, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Vincent Cipollari, the brother of Antonio M. Cipollari.
