LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Averill Park High School Boys
Soccer Team and Coach Sean Organ upon the occasion of capturing the
Regional Class A Championship
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, The Warriors 2013 Boys' Soccer Team are the Regional Class A
Champions, the school's first-ever win in a regional playoff game in the
history of the program; they beat CBA Syracuse (3-0) and Peru (2-1) to
advance to the state finals in Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, Prior to winning the Regional Championship, the Warriors also
won the Sectional Class A Championship for the first time in school
history; they beat South Glens Falls (4-0) avenging a loss to South
Glens Falls in the 2012 sectional semi-final, Troy (2-0) and Queensbury
(2-1) and Hudson Falls (8-0); and
WHEREAS, The Averill Park High School Boys Soccer Team outscored their
opponents in the Regionals and Sectionals 21-4; and
WHEREAS, The last time the Warriors appeared in a sectional final was
in 1985, nearly 30 years ago, and that was in a Class "B" final; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by this team is due in great
part to the efforts of Coach Sean Organ, a skilled and inspirational
tutor, respected for his ability to develop potential into excellence;
and
WHEREAS, The team's overall record is outstanding, and the team
members were loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans,
friends and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, The Averill Park High School Boys Soccer Team ended their
season ranked 4th in the State in New York State Class A in the Final
New York State Sportswriters Association Boys' Soccer State Poll; and
WHEREAS, The hallmarks of the Averill Park High School Boys Soccer
Team, from the opening game of the season to participation in the cham-
pionship, were a brotherhood of athletic ability, of good sportsmanship,
of honor and of scholarship, demonstrating that these team players are
second to none; and
WHEREAS, Athletically and academically, the team members have proven
themselves to be an unbeatable combination of talents, reflecting favor-
ably on their school; and
WHEREAS, Coach Sean Organ, who was named Section 2 Class A Coach of
the Year 2013, has done a superb job in guiding, molding and inspiring
the team members toward their goals; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and Coach Sean Organ and all of the outstanding athletes
have clearly made a contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a
tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Averill Park High School Boys Soccer Team; its members:
Eric Bush, Justin Canaperi, Evan Carrier, Wesley Clayton, Hunter DuPont,
Nathan Glanton, Sam Holden, Mac Hoyt, Myles Joyce, Devin Kaedy, Matt
Ketzer, Matt Lanoue, Josh Lionarons, Josh Meemken, Alex Miller, Andres
Molinet, J. T. Murray, Owen Nuss, Matt Regan, Ben Reinisch, Zach
Ruschmeyer, and Connor Willsie; and Coach Sean Organ on their outstand-
ing season and overall team record; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the members of the Averill Park High School Boys Soccer Team,
and to Coach Sean Organ.
