LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Courtney Benoit upon the occasion
of being honored for her outstanding scholastic achievement at the Scho-
lars' Recognition Dinner, May 8, 2013
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exemplify the ideals and
values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Court-
ney Benoit upon the occasion of being honored for her outstanding scho-
lastic achievement at the Scholars' Recognition Dinner, May 8, 2013, at
the Albany Marriott Hotel; this year's keynote speaker was Dr. Susan
Scrimshaw, President of The Sage Colleges; and
WHEREAS, The Scholars' Recognition Program honors the outstanding
scholastic achievement of members of the graduating classes of the
public, private, parochial and BOCES secondary schools in 11 neighboring
Capital District counties; and
WHEREAS, The high schools selected these students to recognize their
scholarship, leadership and service to their schools and communities;
the students then each nominated a teacher who has influenced their
lives in a significant way; and
WHEREAS, A Colonie Central High School student, Courtney Benoit is
ranked number one in her class; she has consistently challenged herself
with coursework, including six advanced placement (AP) courses, two
college level courses, and the new advanced science course, Molecular
Biology/Biochemistry; and
WHEREAS, This exemplary young woman is passionate about science; she
is actively involved in the annual Science Olympiad, is a molecular
biology Outreach Program Assistant, and will pursue a bachelor's degree
in Biochemistry; and
WHEREAS, Courtney Benoit plays first chair flute in the Wind Ensemble,
and is a member of Key Club and National Honor Society; and
WHEREAS, Courtney Benoit credits the influence of Jason Goldberg for
being an incredible teacher, friend, and for believing in her success;
and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
scholar now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments and
in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appreciat-
ing the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers and parents;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Courtney Benoit upon the occasion of being honored for her
outstanding scholastic achievement at the Scholars' Recognition Dinner;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Courtney Benoit.
