LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Max and Katie Bichler upon the
occasion of capturing 2nd Place on THE AMAZING RACE: SEASON 22
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the State of New York who, by
achieving outstanding success in physical as well as mental competi-
tions, have inspired and brought pride to both the State of New York and
their community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Max and Katie Bichler upon the occasion of capturing 2nd Place on
THE AMAZING RACE: SEASON 22; the end of the couple's dramatic global
trek was revealed on Sunday, May 5, 2013; and
WHEREAS, THE AMAZING RACE is a multi-Emmy Award-winning reality series
which pits 11 teams, each comprised of two members, against each other
on a trek around the world for approximately 25 days; at every destina-
tion each team must compete in a series of challenges, some mental and
some physical, only learning of their next location when their tasks are
completed; and
WHEREAS, Max and Katie Bichler are natives of Buffalo, New York; they
met at a scholarship charity golf tournament in Canada for St. Joseph's
Collegiate Institute; and
WHEREAS, Newlyweds, the couple applied online to be contestants on THE
AMAZING RACE before getting married on October 6, 2012; they learned in
December that they would be among 11 teams competing; and
WHEREAS, Max and Katie Bichler covered 30,000 miles in their odyssey
around the globe; beginning in Los Angeles, the competition took them to
French Polynesia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Botswana, Switzer-
land, Germany, Scotland and Northern Ireland before finishing in Mt.
Vernon, Virginia, the estate of President George Washington; and
WHEREAS, On THE AMAZING RACE, although Max and Katie Bichler got off
to a rough start in the first three legs of the race, they rebounded,
performing well in the next four stages; they then had an astounding
three straight first place finishes in the 9th, 10th, and 11th legs of
the competition which earned the couple two 2013 Ford Fusions, a cash
prize, and a trip for two to the Dominican Republic; and
WHEREAS, Max and Katie Bichler's second place finish in the final
stage earned them the title of Runners-up for the 22nd season of THE
AMAZING RACE; and
WHEREAS, Katie Bichler, a former Buffalo Jills Cheerleader and a
standout golfer, earned a doctoral degree from the SUNY University at
Buffalo's School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences; she currently
practices as a pharmacist in Buffalo's Southtowns; and
WHEREAS, Max Bichler is a graduate of St. Joseph's Collegiate Insti-
tute in Tonawanda, New York, and Northeastern University in Boston,
Massachusetts; he is currently a Regional Sales Manager at the Rocky
Patel Premium Cigar Company; and
WHEREAS, The couple looks forward to enjoying an actual, relaxing
honeymoon now that THE AMAZING RACE: SEASON 22 has concluded and has
been aired in its entirety; and
WHEREAS, Max and Katie Bichler may stand with just pride in assessing
their achievements, recognizing the value of their experiences, the
satisfaction of their labors and the joy of their accomplishments; they
are appreciative of the support of family and community, and eager to
face new challenges; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Max and Katie Bichler upon the occasion of capturing 2nd
Place on THE AMAZING RACE: SEASON 22; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Max and Katie Bichler.
