LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring James Reedy for his dedicated service as
President of the Troy German Hall Association, and recognizing his valu-
able contributions to the German American community

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body, in keeping with its
time-honored traditions, to recognize and pay tribute to those organiza-
tions and individuals who foster ethnic pride and enhance the profile of
cultural diversity which strengthens the fabric of the communities of
New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
James Reedy for his dedicated service as President of the Troy German
Hall Association, and recognizing his valuable contributions to the
German American community; and
WHEREAS, This momentous occasion was celebrated during German American
Day on Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Germania Hall, Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, Since June of 1954, Germania Hall has been a beacon of
cultural pride in Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, Celebrating its 123rd year, the Troy German Hall Association
is an association of individual ethnic societies, each having its roots
in Old Germany, carried to this country by and with its individual
members and ancestors; and
WHEREAS, Planning and organizing such cultural events as Oktoberfest,
James Reedy plays a fundamental role in sharing the German heritage with
the community, and maintaining the traditions of the Troy German Hall
Association; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor James Reedy for his dedicated service as President of the Troy
German Hall Association, and recognize his valuable contributions to the
German American community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to James Reedy.
