LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Christine Bow upon the occasion of her
designation as 2014 New York Agriculture in the Classroom Teacher of the
Year on March 22, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in the State of
New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Christine Bow upon the occasion of her designation as 2014 New York
Agriculture in the Classroom Teacher of the Year, to be commemorated at
the 12th Annual Celebrate Agriculture Dinner on March 22, 2014, in Bata-
via, New York; and
WHEREAS, Christine Bow is a Batavia, New York native, and graduate of
the State University of New York at Geneseo with 30 years of teaching
experience; she is a first-grade teacher at Jackson Primary School in
Batavia, and was nominated for this prestigious award by Genesee County
Agriculture in the Classroom Coordinator Barbara Sturm; and
WHEREAS, As recipient of the Agriculture in the Classroom Teacher of
the Year Award, Christine Bow will receive a trip to the 2014 National
Agriculture in the Classroom Conference in Hershey, Pennsylvania; this
is the first time a teacher from Western New York has received this
esteemed award; and
WHEREAS, With a passion for teaching, Christine Bow is dedicated to
integrating agricultural education into her classroom, and inspiring her
students to develop an understanding and appreciation for farming; and
WHEREAS, Christine Bow believes illustrating agricultural concepts
enhances her students' understanding of social studies, reading, math
and science; she incorporates books, games and activities with farming
themes in her classroom; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Christine Bow's students learn about horticul-
ture, incubation and embryology through her facilitation of direct
interaction with plants and animals, fostering an excitement for learn-
ing; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Randy and their
two children, Amanda and Eric, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Christine Bow has continuously demonstrated an impressive
dedication, an unparalleled devotion and an unremitting enthusiasm for
the quality of the educational programs and opportunities offered at her
school; and
WHEREAS, Teachers like Christine Bow provide a tremendous service to
the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of young
people in their educational journeys and ensuring their success in their
future years; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Christine Bow upon the occasion of her designation as 2014 New
York Agriculture in the Classroom Teacher of the Year on March 22, 2014;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Christine Bow.
