LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Lauren Maitner upon the occasion of
receiving a 2014 Scholarship Award from the Major General Irene
Trowell-Harris Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young
adults of today and leaders of tomorrow whose character and achievements
best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Lauren Maitner upon the occasion of receiving a 2014 Scholarship Award
from the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen,
Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Ranked fifth in her class at Newburgh Free Academy, Lauren
Maitner is a member of the National Honor Society, the New York State
Science Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society; she has played
varsity girls lacrosse and junior varsity girls soccer for two years;
and
WHEREAS, Lauren Maitner plans to attend SUNY Albany and major in
biochemistry, then continue her education in medical school to become a
pediatrician and work with children with special needs; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her high school career, Lauren Maitner has
displayed exceptional academic achievement, a strong sense of community
responsibility, and a commitment to excellence which is unparalleled;
and
WHEREAS, Lauren Maitner, in achieving this academic honor, may take
just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excel-
lence she brings to her family, friends, community and school; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Lauren Maitner upon the occasion of receiving a 2014 Scholarship
Award from the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of Tuskegee
Airmen, Inc., and to extend to her best wishes for a future of purpose-
ful success and wellbeing; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lauren Maitner.
