LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Frank Deiosso upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition after 50 years of dedicated service
to Roslyn Hook and Ladder Company No. 1 and to Roslyn Rescue

WHEREAS, The firefighters of New York State are renowned throughout the
Nation; their reputation is synonymous with excellence in the arduous
fields of rescue and of fire protection and prevention; and
WHEREAS, Since the early days of "teapot steamers," the volunteer
firefighter has been the cornerstone of our great Nation's efforts to
spare us from the ravages of fire and other calamities; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to commend Frank Deiosso upon
the occasion of his designation for special recognition after 50 years
of dedicated service to Roslyn Hook and Ladder Company No. 1 and to
Roslyn Rescue; and
WHEREAS, Frank Deiosso was born in Glen Cove, New York and grew up in
Roslyn, the third of six children; his father was an Italian immigrant
and his mother was born in the United States to an Italian family; and
WHEREAS, At the age of 24, Frank Deiosso joined Roslyn Rescue in 1963;
and
WHEREAS, Over the years, Frank Deiosso has served Roslyn Rescue in
many capacities including Company President, Vice President, and Trus-
tee; he has also been President of the Nassau County Fire Police Associ-
ation, President of the North Shore Fire Council, Director of the South-
ern New York Fireman's Association; and
WHEREAS, He was named Fireman of the Year by one of the Fire Chiefs
under whom he served and has been a valued member of numerous firematic
organizations including the Central New York Fireman's Association and
the Nassau County Fireman's Association and continues to be active as a
Captain in the Fire Police and as a member of several Rescue committees;
and
WHEREAS, Volunteer firefighters and fire departments not only provide
the critical service of fire protection but also engage in other activ-
ities of great benefit and importance to the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help others
and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with family
and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in need; Frank
Deiosso is such a firefighter; throughout 50 years of devoted service,
this volunteer heroically performed, above and beyond the call of duty,
those responsibilities which define the tasks of rescue and fire
protection; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Firefighter Frank Deiosso for 50 years of dedicated service; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Frank Deiosso.
