LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Michael Nuzzolese upon the occasion of
his retirement after 39 years of distinguished public service to the
Village of Goshen

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who are devoted to the welfare of their community and its citizen-
ry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Michael Nuzzolese upon the occasion of his retirement after 39 years of
distinguished public service to the Village of Goshen; this momentous
occasion was celebrated at a recognition meeting in his honor, on
Monday, December 9, 2013, by the Goshen Village Board; and
WHEREAS, Beginning his illustrious career with the Town of Goshen in
1974, Michael Nuzzolese worked for the Highway Department for five
years, and the Village Department of Public Works for 16 years; he will
officially retire from the esteemed position of Superintendent of the
Department of Public Works for the Village of Goshen on December 29,
2013, a position he has held since 1996; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Goshen, Michael Nuzzolese graduated
from Goshen High School in 1972; he lives just a few doors down from his
childhood home on Golden Hill Drive, where his mom Josephine continues
to live today; and
WHEREAS, A man of true integrity, Michael Nuzzolese leads by example;
he has served the Village with distinction, enthusiasm, dedication and
honor, and has overseen hundreds of projects that have made Goshen a
better and stronger place to live; in addition, he credits his father,
the late Dominic Nuzzolese, for much of his talents and accomplishments;
and
WHEREAS, Active within his community, Michael Nuzzolese has been a
member of Dykeman's Fire Department for more than 30 years, and current-
ly serves as Fire Chief; he is also a member of the Italian American
Club; and
WHEREAS, For the past 39 years, Michael Nuzzolese rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Village of Goshen, earning the
admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate blend-
ing of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that demon-
strated by Michael Nuzzolese over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication
to others; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Alice, three chil-
dren, Dale, Jeremy, and Morgan (Daniel), and grandson, Daniel, all of
whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his
achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Michael Nuzzolese upon the occasion of his retirement after 39

years of distinguished public service to the Village of Goshen; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michael Nuzzolese.
