LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Linda Burkhart upon the occasion of
her retirement after 30 years of distinguished service to the Franklin
Free Library on February 11, 2014

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Linda Burkhart upon the occasion of her retirement after 30 years of
illustrious service to the Franklin Free Library; and
WHEREAS, The Friends of the Franklin Free Library will be recognizing
Linda Burkhart at an appreciation party on Tuesday, February 11, 2014;
and
WHEREAS, Linda Burkhart became the director of the Franklin Free
Library in 1983 and for the past 30 years, she has rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Franklin Free Library, earning
the admiration, esteem and affection of her community; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Linda Burkhart served the Franklin
Free Library with intelligence and caring dedication, continuously
striving to effectively fulfill the duties of her position; and
WHEREAS, For the past three decades, Linda Burkhart has been the
library's sole employee who has kept up with the changes while preserv-
ing the traditional things that truly matter, such as: story hour for
the children, lap sits, summer programs for children, after school
programs, book clubs, genealogy records, the historical records of
Franklin and the Delaware Literary Institute, and archive of hand books;
and
WHEREAS, Sincerely loved and greatly respected by all those with whom
she worked, Linda Burkhart will be remembered for her honesty, integri-
ty, keen sense of duty and ability to show a unique grasp of ever-chang-
ing technology and coordinating volunteers; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Linda Burkhart upon the occasion of her retirement after 30
years of distinguished service to the Franklin Free Library; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Linda Burkhart.
