LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Salvatore B. Indelicato,
former Senior Investigator for the New York State Police, distinguished
citizen and devoted member of his community
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished officers and citizens who have devoted themselves to
public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing
for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Salvatore B. Indelicato of Narrowsburgh, New York, died on
January 13, 2014, at the age of 83; and
WHEREAS, The son of Lodovico and Mary Crimi Indelicato, Salvatore was
born on November 18, 1930, in Highland, New York; he attended Highland
High School and graduated upon his return after serving honorably in
active duty in the United States Air Force; he continued to serve in the
reserves from 1949-1955; and
WHEREAS, On August 1, 1952, Salvatore B. Indelicato became a member of
the New York State Police, which began an illustrious career that
brought him to all corners of the State; he was assigned to be a motor-
cycle trooper and had the distinction of riding the first New York State
Police motorcycle over the Tappan Zee Bridge when it first opened; and
WHEREAS, In 1968, with the creation of Troop F within the State
Police, Salvatore served as Administrative Senior Investigator supervis-
ing investigative personnel; he was involved in many important Police
programs over 22 years of devoted service; and
WHEREAS, After retiring from the New York State Police in 1990, this
remarkable man decided to continue serving his community by running for
town office; he was elected as Town of Cochecton Councilman and served
from 1992-1996; thereafter, he was elected as Supervisor in the Town of
Cochecton and served from 1998-2010; and
WHEREAS, Salvatore B. Indelicato's commitment to excellence, and his
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, includ-
ing charitable and civic endeavors; he served in the Cochecton Ambulance
Corp and also held memberships in the PBA and Monticello Elks Chapter
1544; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his parents Lodovico and Mary Indelicato, one
brother, Louis, and a sister, Francis Indelicato Herron; Salvatore B.
Indelicato is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helene; their son,
Salvatore, and wife Lisa; granddaughters, Nicole and Isabella; one
brother, Joseph, and two sisters, Antoinette Roccio and Catherine Hunt;
as well as many other loving family members; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Salvatore B. Indelicato leaves behind a legacy which will
long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory
to all he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Salvatore B. Indelicato, former Senior Investigator
for the New York State Police, distinguished citizen and devoted member
of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Salvatore B. Indelicato.
