LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Sebastian Lippman upon the occa-
sion of his designation as a Finalist in the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick
Competition

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the State of New York who, by
achieving outstanding success in athletic competition, have inspired and
brought pride to their family, school and community; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Sebas-
tian Lippman upon the occasion of his designation as a Finalist in the
NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Competition; and
WHEREAS, Eight year-old Sebastian Lippman of Plainview, New York
represented the Jets in the finals of the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick competi-
tion; the event was held on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Valor Chris-
tian High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, a reception was held to commend the finalists,
as well as the opportunity to participate in a passing exhibition held
on the field before the start of the divisional play-off game between
the Denver Broncos and the San Diego Chargers, on Sunday, January 12,
2014, at Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado; and
WHEREAS, The second grader at Pasadena Elementary School was one of
only 40 children from across the country to compete in the final compe-
tition; and
WHEREAS, His road to the National Championship began in September when
Sebastian Lippman competed in a local contest in Lido Beach; each child
was given two chances to kick, punt and pass a football as far as they
could, with points awarded for accuracy and distance; and
WHEREAS, Sebastian Lippman qualified for the sectionals in Oyster Bay
in October, and at that competition earned a spot in the New York Jets
team championship by finishing first among the 32 team champions in his
division from across the country; and
WHEREAS, Since the Punt, Pass & Kick program began in 1961, Sebastian
Lippman is the first child from New York to earn a place in the National
Championship; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish Sebastian Lippman continued success throughout his school
years and beyond; and
WHEREAS, Sebastian Lippman represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor him, recognizing his achievements and the promise of his future;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Sebastian Lippman upon the occasion of his designation as a
Finalist in the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Competition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sebastian Lippman.
