LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Cornell
Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
applaud the leaders of commerce and industry, as well as educational
institutions, whose accomplishments contribute to the economic health
and prosperity of the communities of the State of New York and to the
quality of life of its people; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 100th Anniversary of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan
County; and
WHEREAS, As part of a yearlong centennial celebration, a traditional
barbeque dinner and old-fashioned barn dance was held on Saturday,
September 28, 2013, at Bridle Hill Farm in Jeffersonville, New York; and
WHEREAS, A statewide educational organization funded by national,
state and county governments, Cornell Cooperative Extension helps New
York citizens put research-based knowledge to work; and
WHEREAS, Cornell Cooperative Extension has enjoyed a long and distin-
guished history of serving the people of Sullivan County with educa-
tional and leadership opportunities since 1914; and
WHEREAS, With a mission to be a gateway to knowledge, life skills and
experiences for better living, Cornell Cooperative Extension brings
together and partners with government, business, and community based
groups to meet the needs of its community; and
WHEREAS, Cornell Cooperative Extension serves the residents of Sulli-
van County by offering programs in agriculture, natural resources,
horticulture, family and consumer sciences, financial education, nutri-
tion, caregiving, parenting and 4-H youth development; and
WHEREAS, The success enjoyed by Cornell Cooperative Extension of
Sullivan County is in direct correlation to the efforts of a superbly
skilled volunteer and professional staff whose involvement is and has
been characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm,
and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf
of the organization and the population it serves; and
WHEREAS, As Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County cele-
brates its 100th Anniversary, it stands in fulfillment of the proud
legacy of its namesake and is poised for success for many years to come;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Cornell Cooperative Extension of
Sullivan County; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County.
