LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Warwick Valley High School Inter-
act Club upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of the Rotary
International Presidential Award

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Warwick Valley High School Interact Club upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the Rotary International Presidential Award;
and
WHEREAS, An initiative of Rotary International, Interact is a club for
youth ages 12-18 who want to connect with others in their community or
school; the clubs, which are self-governing, organize at least two
service projects a year: one that benefits their community and one that
encourages international understanding; and
WHEREAS, The Warwick Valley High School Interact Club has received the
prestigious Rotary International Presidential Award due to its outstand-
ing work to improve the lives of others in the Warwick community and
beyond; and
WHEREAS, The Warwick Valley High School Interact Club has a membership
of approximately 100 students; it is the largest student organization at
the high school; and
WHEREAS, The Warwick Valley High School Interact Club is actively
engaged in philanthropic and community service endeavors; among its most
recent accomplishments, the club: raised 4,000 items during a food
drive; sent shoeboxes and gifts to soldiers in Afghanistan and children
in foreign countries; supplied meals for 25 families for Thanksgiving
and Christmas; helped senior citizens at Mount Alverno Center, an
assisted-living community; and collected Christmas toys for disadvan-
taged children; and
WHEREAS, Over the past 10 years, the club has raised significant funds
for charity through its fundraising projects, which includes an annual
spring student talent show; and
WHEREAS, In being selected for the Rotary International Presidential
Award, the Warwick Valley High School Interact Club has been recognized
as one of the top Interact clubs in the world; and
WHEREAS, The dedicated and civic-minded members of the Warwick Valley
High School Interact Club, along with their advisor, Jeanine Fogler,
have clearly made a contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a
tradition of their school; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish the members of the Warwick Valley High School Interact Club
continued success throughout their school years and beyond; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Warwick Valley High School Interact Club upon the occasion
of its designation as recipient of the Rotary International Presidential
Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Warwick Valley High School Interact Club.
