WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York, who

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the Army
Week Association (AWA) for its dedication and commitment to service men,
women and veterans; and
WHEREAS, Since the Army birthday concept was conceived in 2011, it has

WHEREAS, In 2013, AWA hosted a series of events in Manhattan which
helped raise funds to benefit national nonprofit organizations which
support veterans, servicemen and women, as well as their families; and

community; and
WHEREAS, In 2014, the AWA will expand the educational events it

their civilian life; and
WHEREAS, The AWA is a veteran-owned and run small business and is

their families when they return to their communities; and
WHEREAS, The AWA, while serving the New York metropolitan area, is
planning to offer its services to all returning service veterans nation-
wide; and
WHEREAS, While many organizations help support returning service
members and are willing to create a community to welcome them home, the

WHEREAS, The mission of the AWA is to create awareness of these issues
and more importantly to provide awareness of and connection to the
organizations which are best equipped to help these returning veterans;
and
WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended and
