LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Schervier Pavilion upon the occasion of
being awarded National Accreditation for Quality Assurance and Perform-
ance Improvement for Nursing Homes and Centers
WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those
illustrious organizations of the State of New York whose purposeful
endeavors serve to enhance the quality of life for the cherished senior
citizens in their communities; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Schervier
Pavilion upon the occasion of being awarded National Accreditation for
Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) for Nursing Homes
and Centers by Providigm, LLC, on Monday, May 6, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Providigm's QAPI Accreditation is based on standards for
excellence in continuously improving quality of care and life for nurs-
ing home residents; the standards include measures of the extent to
which nursing homes assess the care provided to their post-hospital and
long-term care residents, as well as correcting quality concerns; and
WHEREAS, This accreditation signifies that the administration and
staff of Schervier Pavilion are truly committed to continuously improv-
ing the quality of life and care they provide to the elders they serve;
and
WHEREAS, Schervier Pavilion, a member of the Bon Secours Charity
Health System in Warwick, New York, is a 120-bed, skilled nursing facil-
ity dedicated to the highest standard of healthcare excellence, and to
meeting the needs of its residents in an atmosphere of caring and
warmth; and
WHEREAS, One of only 1,000 facilities throughout the United States and
Canada to have been awarded this prestigious accreditation, Schervier
Pavilion helps each of its residents maintain the highest level of daily
independence possible, and offers a broad range of therapeutic and
social activities designed to enhance their physical and mental capabil-
ities; and
WHEREAS, In addition to long-term care services, Schervier Pavilion
also offers a wide range of short-term care needs; its sub-acute
services include IV therapy, rehabilitation therapy and wound care,
affording residents the ability to recuperate in the facility and then
return to the community to resume a more independent life; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Schervier Pavilion offers the Day-At-A-Time
program, a medical adult day care program which provides nursing
services, medication administration, ongoing evaluations, and stimulat-
ing activities tailored to each individual's needs and abilities; and
WHEREAS, This significant milestone is an excellent opportunity to
recognize the special contributions of Schervier Pavilion and the dedi-
cated individuals who strive to better the quality of life for senior
citizens in the community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when insti-
tutions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Schervier Pavilion upon the occasion of being awarded National
Accreditation for Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement for
Nursing Homes and Centers; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Schervier Pavilion.
